A night indoors
After realizing just how busy I am going to be in 10 short days, I decided to stay in tonight. It was a beautiful early evening to walk to the produce stand and get a fresh avocado for salad and take the long way home. Once home, I cooked some vegetarian beef with avocado salad and basmati rice with a little coconut milk added for flavor. I had remembered reading that avocados could be used as deep conditioners, so I used the left over for my hair! 15 minutes and you have smooth, shiny, soft hair that is well worth the mess it will leave in your shower.
Then I settled into my bed to watch, finally, Grey Gardens. I watched the HBO remake with Drew Barrymore so I am sure that the original is better. However, I really enjoyed it. All that time during college, when I was going through my Rufus Wainwright phase, it never occurred to me to watch the movie. His song called "Grey Gardens" (of course) starts out with Edith Beale's line in the movie: "it's very difficult to keep the line between the past and the present". That quote does resonate with me. But not as much as it did for Edith Beale, who devoted nearly her entire life to caring for her mother - at the expense of her own career, relationships, and well just about her entire existence including her hair.
