So-En Japanese Fashion Magazine
As a designer, there are some magazines that you can not part with. I am not talking about the usual suspects: Vogue, Elle, Glamour, etc. I am talking about Zink, Lula, and my absolute favorite, So-En. So-En is a Japanese fashion magazine that I unfortunately, only have one issue of. It is quite expensive. However, last night I stumbled upon a website that informed me that So-En was not only Japan's first fashion magazine, it was also started in 1936. I then dug out my only copy and discovered that I had inadvertently purchased the 70th anniversary issue in 2006. Perhaps that is why the photography, the layout, and the concepts are so impressive. Although something tells me that much heart and soul goes into each issue.

I highly recommend taking a look at the photos page on that site as well. Gorgeous girls and guys wearing some of the most unique clothing. If you hover over the photos, you can see where to purchase their looks. I love the androgynous look for men - it is so fascinating. Should make us all want to visit Japan very soon!

Great topic!! and it really shows your diversity and appreciation of "quality" that we all lack nowadays. Thank you for making me remember the good ole days and realize something new about fashion!
