First Posting: To state my purpose

One of the most challenging things I have faced as a designer here in New York City, or even before I moved here is how to narrow down all of the things that inspire me. I named the blog Concept/Conception after finding this on Thesaurus.com: "A concept is a more definite, more unitary, more complete type of notion than is a conception, which is more of an ideational structure with a potential for realization (rather like a schema)." I think I have had many, many conceptions or schema - which to me sounds even less finite - than I have concepts.

I know that this is not uncommon complaint from the world of designers and artists. It is was prevents some from being successful I believe. Too many ideas, rather than sticking to what works. And too many "potentials for realization" that are never fully realized. I won't be sharing all of my conceptions of course, however, I will be sharing pics/thoughts/tips/ideas that occur to me on the fly. One of the main purposes I see coming from the postings will be for trend forecasting - especially for color trends. I am also a teacher and I think that those skills can come into play here as well. Forget about dated college courses in creating collections. It is all about training your eye to know what is good and what is not.
