Experiencing some major jet lag after a four day trip to Bansko, Bulgaria.  I've been wide awake since 4:45 this morning.  So what better time than now to publish my top three photos from the trip!  Coming in at number one, and this was a tough decision, is a photo I took on the road that leads to the Rila Monastery in Rila, Bulgaria.  The trees lining the road gave you a feeling that you were about to enter into a majestic, uncharted land!

When traveling to such a beautiful part of the world, it is often times very hard to just put the camera away and live in the moment by taking it all in. So I try to limit myself to under 200 photos (depending on my length of stay of course).  Also, when I came home from Turkey - sorting through over 1,000 photos was a very daunting task!  My number two photo depicts the clouds rolling over the Pirin mountain range that surrounded our resort.   This photo makes it look like it was a lot colder than it really was there.  It was only about 20 degrees Fahrenheit on average. Growing up in New England, you know that that is really not that cold!

And last but not least, is the photo of what you see as you enter the Rila Monastery.  After borrowing our resort owners car (for the equivalent of $15) for the day,  we embarked on a two hour drive to Rila that was positively magical. The monastery itself was founded by a hermit named Ivan of Rila.  It is considered to be a mastery display of Bulgarian Revival architecture.  The websites for all of the sights we saw there are not what we are used to here in the states, however, this one will provide a nice history of the monastery: http://www.bulgarianmonastery.com/rila_monastery.html
